Veg or Non Veg?

The month of Shravan/Sawan comes in monsoon; it is forbidden to eat non-vegetarian food in this month. For a person like me who is an ardent chicken and fish lover and not consuming it for a month is very difficult. As kids, we ate only homemade food, so if Mummy said; she is not going to cook non-veg for some time, we had no option. We were fine with her decision. As I grew up and left Mummy’s home for education and job, I did not care which month it was or which day it was, whenever I felt like … Continue reading Veg or Non Veg?

Rangoli- My way

It is a family ritual to draw Rangoli in the patio or in the entrance of the house. My grandmother used to draw an intricate Rangoli design, filled with vibrant colors. I have seen her rangolis and helped her in it. As she was turning old day by day, her hands became shaky and it was getting difficult for her to put Rangoli. My mother took over my grandmother’s ritual. She used to draw Rangoli every morning in the patio. But it was not as beautiful as my grandma’s. On festivals, I used to force my grandma to draw Rangoli … Continue reading Rangoli- My way

Certified

In the summer of 2013, I got married. We went to Italy for our honeymoon, and there was la felicità (happiness) everywhere. I was learning many things, adjusting to the new family and letting them adjust to me as well. I had met almost all the family members during the wedding and ceremonies, some were close to my husband and some were just acquittances to my husband. I decided to learn better about the closed ones to my husband first and then as time passes, I will know everyone. Many times, there are few relations that are closer than the blood … Continue reading Certified

The Perfect Bride

We have grown in a society where good and bad are defined by one’s looks and social status. If a girl is fair, slim, calm & composed, she is defined as a good girl and she will make a perfect bride. Well, I do not fit into anything that the definition says. I am dusky, plump and not at all composed. I have followed my heart most of the times and hence, whatever wrong happens in my life I don’t blame anyone for it. I have taken all my decisions myself, of course, my family was around to support me. When … Continue reading The Perfect Bride

A bad morning

I wake up by 7:00 am every day and after taking a bath I enter the kitchen. The first thing, I do is to boil the milk and prepare tea. While the tea & milk boils up, I finish brooming the house. By the time, I broom our house, tea gets ready and the milk also comes to boil. As usual, I woke up at 7:00 am, I was brushing my teeth and when I looked in the mirror, there was a horrible & ugly pimple on my left cheek. Urgh! This had to come today only, I have to … Continue reading A bad morning

He looks like?

Every pregnancy is different & so is every child. My pregnancy was the easy one except for the delivery time. But I bet all the deliveries are tragic and painful. My boy met me after a cesarean operation. I was happy to hold him but I was not prepared to be a mother, not even after nine months of pregnancy. I knew all about having a child and being with one, but theory and practical is way different. How can I stay awake all night and day? How can I know which cry means what? Still, after months of experience, … Continue reading He looks like?

Nothing fits…but SHOES!!

I love to window shop online. I spend hours window shopping because, the clothes that are in trend, are all for skinny and tall people. I prefer wearing minimal prints and dark colors. Something that will cover all the fat areas but will still look chic. Something that should be breathable for my skin. Something that will keep a balance between sanskari & modern. Since adolescence, I have always struggled between ‘log kya sochenge’ & ‘bhaad mein jaye log’. So, I end up buying clothes that are loose, that covers up my assets and still make me look good. But … Continue reading Nothing fits…but SHOES!!

Banyan Tree

When we were kids, our favourite day was; Sunday. This Sunday used to be so precious because we could spend more time in bed, we could watch an extra hour of television and out of all these things there was one more thing that I loved and that was to hold my grandfather’s finger and roam around in the village visiting all the temples. The first temple used to be of Ganpati, then Mahadev, then Khandoba & in the end was Shanidev. After having a good time with all the gods, my grandfather used to meet his friends for chitchat. Just next to their chitchat … Continue reading Banyan Tree

Evening Walk

Every morning at 6:30 am, I open the balcony window while brushing my teeth and see so many people jogging, exercising & walking!! I call these people fitness freak. When I look at them every morning, I feel even I should put some efforts. But I just cannot help my laziness; my sleep overpowers my enthusiasm for morning walks. So, I stand in the balcony for a good 10 mins watching people. I wash off the thought of waking up early in the morning for a walk as I splash cool water on my face. Our day normally starts with … Continue reading Evening Walk
