A magical kitchen sink

We all need clean utensils to eat in and to cook food in and for this, one has to wash them properly. I won’t say I have an OCD but yes I like everything clean, not shiny but clean. I am a homemaker by choice. I use to work and earn money at some point in my life but it’s been more than 2 years that I handle all the household chores.  My day in the kitchen starts with a glass of warm water, followed by a cup of tea. Mine is a family of 5, me,  my husband, mother in law, father in law and my 4.5-year-old son. Thus, comes 5 cups of tea and milk and chai ka patela in the sink. Off course we eat breakfast every day hence comes plates/bowls in the sink. Like I said I don’t have an OCD but I like things clean. I wash all these utensils from breakfast that were lying in the sink. Now the sink is empty and clean. And just after a minute of washing everything, my son comes running and keeps the glass in the sink. I give him a stare; “I just cleaned up.” But never mind this keeps happening. Now when everyone has eaten breakfast, they start with their day and I start by preparing the lunch. Our lunch throughout the weekday is chapatis and some vegetable. Once I finish cooking I again start cleaning up the kitchen sink filled up with utensils. I don’t really point at anyone from the family for so many utensils because I am the one who keeps using them and loading up the sink. So one more round of the cleaning. Well, this one gets done very quickly. Time to pack the tiffins and water bottles and now take some time off. The afternoon is free time from everything. My son goes to school, the husband goes to the office. After lunch, my mother in law cleans up the plates and bowls from lunch. The afternoon is the nap time for both of them and I am mostly watching Netflix or reading magazines.

I don’t even enter the kitchen until 4pm. As the day moves ahead, its time again for chai/tea. And the sink again starts filling up. By evening I get really irritated by the number of utensils we use in the kitchen. No, this irritation is only on myself because I keep drawing these utensils up. So the evening tea, dinner cooking and dinner’s utensils are all washed up at one time only. This gets a good heap where I put them on one another very carefully to fit the tray that holds all the washed vessels. As soon as I dry up my hands with a hand towel comes a glass and a spoon that was left at the dining area. I have a strong feeling that my kitchen sink is haunted or has some magical power to attract utensils. It has never occurred that it has been empty for an hour.

Do you also face the same, and have a magical kitchen sink in your house??
